
TOURNEY BOUND! Ferris State Tennis Squads Both Punch Tickets To NCAA Tournament

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's and women's tennis teams are both headed to the NCAA Division II Tournament as the two Bulldog squads received official bids via a live selection announcement on Monday (May 5) evening.
The NCAA Division II National Men's & Women's selection committees released the respective fields for the national tournaments via NCAA.com.
The Bulldog women's team received its 23rd all-time national tournament bid and its second in a row while the men's team earned its 10th consecutive berth and will make its 28th all-time NCAA Tourney appearance. Both teams are guided by head coach Mark Doren.
On the women's side, Ferris State is seeded fifth in the Midwest Region and will square off against fourth-seeded Tiffin in first-round action on Monday (May 12) at 12 p.m. (ET) in Detroit. Wayne State University was chosen to host one of the two Midwest Region brackets with the winner of the opening round matchup squaring off against the host Warriors on Tuesday (May 13) at 12 p.m. (ET) for the right to move on to the D2 Sweet Sixteen set for May 20-25 in Altamonte Springs, Fla.
Meanwhile, the FSU men's squad drew the sixth-seed in the Midwest Region and will face third-seeded Wayne State in first-round action on Friday (May 9) at 2 p.m. (ET) at Center Grove High School near Indianapolis. On the other side of the Midwest Region bracket, top-seeded host Indianapolis will face seventh-seeded Purdue Northwest at 10 a.m. (ET) and the winners will then meet in the bracket final Saturday (May 10) at 12 p.m. (ET). The winner of the four-team event on the men's side will also move on to the NCAA-II round of 16 in Florida.
Presently, both Ferris State teams are 12-8 overall this year and each placed third in the GLIAC during regular-season play while advancing to the conference tournament semifinals this season.
