Bulldog Women Head Into Holiday Break After League Road Win

Tiffin, Ohio - The Ferris State University women's basketball squad will head into the holiday break with momentum after a 79-69 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) road win over the Tiffin Dragons on Tuesday (Dec. 17) evening at the Gillmor Center in Tiffin, Ohio

Ferris State completed its two-game road trip to Ohio with a split as FSU rolled up 44 points in the opening half after totaling only 50 for the game in a three-point setback at Ohio Dominican on Sunday night.

Senior guard Sarah DeShone led the Bulldogs with a contest-best 24 points as she knocked down five three-pointers in the triumph. She also had four rebounds, four assists, a blocked shot and a steal in the win.

FSU also received 14 points from sophomore guard Dena Droste, who battled foul trouble in the opening half of play. Sophomore guard Katie Mavis also reached double-digits with 11 points off the bench in the victory.

Ferris State shot 46.7% for the night compared to Tiffin's 39% shooting figure. The Bulldogs also made seven-of-13 (53.8%) three's in addition to 16-of-24 (66.7%) free throws.

The Dragons were paced by Bre Nauman's 14 points. Meanwhile, Karli Mast added 12 points, but was held scoreless by FSU in the second half.

Overall, Tiffin shot 39% for the night and made nine-of-25 (36%) three-pointers while hitting 14-of-22 (63.6%) free throws.

Ferris State was outrebounded 38-37 as the Dragons grabbed 16 offensive boards to 13 for the Bulldogs, but FSU forced 18 turnovers with only 14 of its own. The Bulldogs also came up with eight steals and four blocked shots in the victory.

With the win, the Bulldogs improved to 2-4 overall and evened their league mark at 2-2 on the year. Tiffin fell to 3-5 overall and 0-4 in conference play.

Ferris State improved to 6-4 all-time against Tiffin after the triumph in the 10th-ever series' matchups between the two schools.

Tuesday's contest represented the Bulldogs' final outing until the New Year. FSU will return from the holiday break by hosting Findlay on Thursday, Jan. 2, at 6 p.m. (ET) inside Jim Wink Arena in Big Rapids.
