Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's basketball team came out on the short end of a 63-59 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) setback against the Michigan Tech Huskies on Thursday (Feb. 24) night inside Jim Wink Arena.

The Huskies got off to a quick start, scoring the first seven points of the game, and the Bulldogs had to play catch up most of the way in dropping to 18-9 overall and 12-7 in league play.

Despite the loss, the Bulldogs still have an opportunity to win at least a share of the GLIAC North Division Championship on Saturday (Feb. 26) as FSU hosts Northern Michigan in the regular-season finale.

In Thursday's loss, Ferris State eventually surged in front and grabbed a two-point lead with 6:23 to play in the fourth, but Michigan Tech was too much in the end as they garnered the triumph. The Huskies improved to 16-10 overall and 11-7 in league play with the road victory.

Michigan Tech was led by Sara Dax, who notched 23 points on the inside, along with Sloane Zenner, who added 13 points. MTU finished shooting 42.1% from the floor and was eight-of-21 (77.8%) from long range in addition to seven-of-nine (77.8%) at the free throw line.

Meanwhile, the Bulldogs got 14 points from sophomore Kadyn Blanchard in addition to 11 apiece from senior Zoe Anderson and junior Mallory McCartney. FSU was held to 34.4% shooting overall and netted only a five-of-20 (25%) effort from the three-point arc in addition to 12-of-15 (80%) at the line.

Both teams totaled 37 rebounds and FSU had only 11 turnovers compared to 15 for the Huskies. The Bulldogs also recorded eight steals and dished out 18 assists overall, including eight from McCartney and six by senior guard Adrienne Anderson.

Ferris State will host NMU on Saturday for Senior Day with tipoff set for 1 p.m. (ET) inside Wink Arena.
