Big Rapids, Mich. - The nation's ninth-ranked Ferris State Bulldogs exploded in the second quarter and rolled to a decisive 92-52 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) women's basketball home win over visiting Davenport on Thursday (Jan. 18) evening inside FSU's Jim Wink Arena.
After taking a 15-12 first-quarter lead, FSU outscored DU 30-9 in the second frame to take control of the game and cruised to the win. The Bulldogs also totaled 28 points in the third quarter and finished with a 19-10 margin in the fourth to account for the final total.
Ferris State's Kadyn Blanchard tallied a career-high 31 points in the win, knocking down 12-of-18 field goals and six-of-seven three's in a stellar performance. She also added five rebounds, three steals and three assists in the victory.
Meanwhile, Mya Hiram added 13 points off the bench to go with a team-high tying five steals while DeShonna Day chipped in 12 points and Chloe Idoni scored 11 points.
The Bulldogs converted 61.1% of their field goals for the night, going 13-of-21 (61.9%) from three-point range and 13-of-15 (86.7%) at the free throw stripe.
Along with the impressive shooting figures, Ferris State owned a 30-26 rebounding edge and forced 27 turnovers, leading to a 29-14 margin in points off turnovers and a 24-2 advantage in fast break scoring. The Bulldogs totaled 25 steals in the game, including five each from Hiram and senior Mallory McCartney, who also dished out 10 of the Bulldogs' 30 assists.
Davenport was led by Isabel Lindo with a team-high 10 points. The Panthers shot 33.3% from the field and were six-of-18 (33.3%) from long range while making 14-of-17 (82.4%) free throws.
With the win, the Bulldogs improved to 11-2 overall and 5-1 in the GLIAC.
Ferris State will square off against nationally top-ranked archival Grand Valley State in a national top 10 showdown on Saturday (Jan. 20) inside FSU's Jim Wink Arena starting at 1 p.m. (ET).
