Bulldog Women's Soccer Struggles At Northern Michigan

The Ferris State University women's soccer team had a disappointing day on Sunday (Oct. 11) as the Bulldogs suffered an 8-0 loss to Northern Michigan at the NMU Soccer Field in Marquette, Mich.

For Ferris State, the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) setback dropped the Bulldogs to 1-10-2 overall and 1-7-1 in the conference this season.

Northern Michigan tallied three goals in the first half and would tack on five more in the second to claim the win.  Three Wildcat players - Amelia Johnson, Dana Stephens, and Kari Buckel would score three goals apiece.  Kara Music posted two saves in a starting capacity and played 56:43 minutes to earn the win.  Jessica Baker took over the final 33:17 minutes and compiled one save.  

Senior goalkeeper Kari Alsager (Mount Pleasant) had four saves in the contest for the Bulldogs, who were outshot 20-5 for the match.  Northern Michigan recorded seven corner kicks while Ferris State registered two, both coming in the opening half.

The Bulldogs put three shots on net as junior defender Kristen March (Canton/Plymouth Salem), freshman midfielder Sam Zerilli (Clinton Township/Chippewa Valley), and sophomore midfielder Sam Harrington (Ypsilanti/Lincoln) accounted for one apiece.

Ferris State continues conference road action this Friday (Oct. 16) versus the Tiffin Dragons in Tiffin, Ohio.  Match time is scheduled for 2 p.m. (EDT).
