Bulldog Soccer Suffers Setback Despite Big Shot Advantage At Concordia

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's soccer squad held a decided edge in shots, but could not muster a goal as the Bulldogs dropped a 1-0 decision to Concordia (Mich.) in non-league play on Tuesday (Sept. 12) afternoon in Ann Arbor, Mich.

Concordia tallied the day's only goal at 31:07 of the first half as Janaya Lothian scored off a Julia Palushaj assist to account for the lone score.

Overall, the Bulldogs held a 20-7 edge in total shots, including a 11-2 margin in the second half. The Bulldogs also totaled 10 shots on goal to four for the hosts.

Ferris State played 24 different individuals in the contest, but could not find the back of the net against Concordia's Maria Lulgjuraj, who totaled 10 saves in 90 minutes of work.

The Bulldogs' Grace Kraft started the game in net and allowed the only goal in 45 minutes before Nyla Peterkin played 45 scoreless minutes in the second half. Kraft finished with two saves while Peterkin had one.

Abigail Gilmore paced FSU with six shots, including two on goal, while Carley Dubbert finished with four shots and three on net in the setback.

Along with the advantage in total shots, the Bulldogs also recorded all 10 of the day's corner kick opportunities.

Ferris State returns home to host Tiffin on Friday, Sept. 15, in a non-league contest starting at 4 p.m. (ET) at FSU's South Athletic Fields.
