Ferris State Unable To Find Net In Close One-Goal Setback To Ashland

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's soccer team had opportunities, but could not find the net as the Bulldogs suffered a 1-0 setback to Ashland on Sunday (Sept. 17) at the South Athletic Fields in Big Rapids.

The Bulldogs outshot the Eagles 24-10 overall, but AU managed the day's only goal on a shot near the net from Morgan Bittengle off an Emily Ledbetter cross into the box in the 22nd minute.

Ferris State tallied 13 shots in the first half and 11 more in the second while allowing only five shots in each period to the Eagles.

AU's Abby Lampe stood tall with 11 saves in 90 minutes of work to earn the win for Ashland while FSU's Grace Kraft finished with three saves in going the distance on a warm afternoon.

Ferris State's Rachel Fouts and Abigail Gilmore both netted a game-high five shots apiece with the Bulldogs' Brandi Wagner putting three of her four shots on net.

Bittengle led the Eagles with a team-high four total shots in the win.

Overall, Ashland totaled 10 fouls to five for Ferris State and both teams recorded five corner kick chances apiece.

Ferris State visits Madonna for a non-league tilt on Wednesday (Sept. 20) at 4 p.m. (ET) before returning home to host Northwood on Friday (Sept. 22) in its first GLIAC contest of the year.
