Ferris State Soccer Notches Fifth Consecutive Victory As Streak Continues

Saginaw, Mich. - A late first half goal spree and strong goaltending propelled the Ferris State University women's soccer team to its fifth consecutive victory with a 2-1 win over the Saginaw Valley State Cardinals in non-conference action on Friday (Sept. 14) at Braddock Stadium.

Ferris State struck first at 30:51 when junior Tia VanSuilichem scored her second goal of the season from freshman Grace VerHage for a 1-0 lead.

The Bulldogs extended the lead to 2-0 when freshman Pia Nagel scored her team-leading fourth goal of the season, and her team-best third game-winning tally at 41:40, unassisted.

Out of the half, Saginaw Valley State pressed and cut the Ferris State lead in half at 53:02 when Amanda Minissale scored from Amy Babon off a rebound for a 2-1 score.

While the Cardinals continued to press for the equalizer, several strong diving stops and steals from Ferris State junior goalkeeper Grace Kraft kept the Bulldogs in the lead.

Kraft finished with the win on three saves while Alyssa Watts took the loss for Saginaw Valley State on three saves as well.

The Bulldogs are 4-0-0 on their current seven game road-stand and are winners of five consecutive contests.

Ferris State heads to Caledonia on Sunday (Sept. 16) to take on the Davenport Panthers at 1 p.m. (ET).
