#12 Ferris State Soccer Extends School-Record Unbeaten Streak To 14-Straight

Big Rapids, Mich. – A four-goal first half propelled the nationally 12th-ranked Ferris State University women's soccer team to a 4-1 victory over the Northwood Timberwolves on Senior Day in non-conference action at the Bulldog Soccer Field on Sunday (Oct. 14).

It was the fourth consecutive game in which the Bulldogs scored four goals, and added to Ferris State's school record 14-game unbeaten streak, dating back to the second match of the season.

The Bulldogs opened the contest with four-consecutive goals, started by sophomore Mackenzie Dawes, who netted her third goal of the season on a breakaway at 17:58 of the first half. Senior Carley Dubbert added her team-best sixth assist of the season on the goal.

Less than five minutes later, freshman and team-leading goal scorer Pia Nagel picked up her eighth goal of the season from Dawes (5), which was the eventual game-winner at 23:44.

Nagel, who broke the school record for single-season game-winning goals on Wednesday (Oct. 10) in a 4-0 non-league road win at Tiffin, extended her record to six game-winning tallies on the season.

Later, at 35:47, Dubbert picked up a senior day goal, her seventh of the season. Junior Maddie Fouts (5) and Nagel (3) earned assists on Dubbert's goal, which gave FSU a 3-0 edge.

Less than two minutes after Dubbert's goal, junior Morgan Irwin punched in her first goal of the season unassisted at 37:15 as the Bulldogs carried a 4-0 lead to the halftime break.

Northwood's lone tally came at 58:13 when Katelyn Wilkowski scored to cut the Ferris State lead to three.

For the game, Ferris State outshot Northwood 26-8, with a 12-6 shots on goal edge. In goal, junior Grace Kraft picked up the win and moved to 3-1-1, making five saves in the outing. Bridget Adams took the loss for Northwood and fell to 2-9-0, allowing four goals on eight shots before being relieved in the second half by Andrea Everett.

Ferris State returns home on Friday, Oct. 19, to take on nationally top-ranked Grand Valley State in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play at the Bulldog Soccer Field. Match time is set for 4 p.m. (ET). It will be the first meeting between the Bulldogs and the Lakers since FSU shutout GVSU on its home field last fall (10/27/17) in a 1-0 victory.
