#14 Ferris State Matches School Record For Wins With Shutout Victory

Big Rapids, Mich. - The nationally 14th-ranked Ferris State University women's soccer squad closed out the regular-season with a 2-0 road triumph over Northwood on Friday (Oct. 26) in Midland.

The Bulldogs scored once early and sealed the win with a strong defensive performance in closing out Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play with a win. By virtue of the victory, the Bulldogs also matched the all-time school single-season mark for victories in a campaign.

With the triumph, FSU secured the number two seed for the conference tournament and will host an opponent to be announced in quarterfinal-round play on Tuesday (Oct. 30) starting at 3 p.m. (ET) at the Bulldog Soccer Field.

FSU jumped in front of Northwood early as Abigail Gilmore tallied her fourth goal of the campaign off a Maddie Fouts assist only 11:54 into the tilt.

The Bulldogs later added a second goal at 58:05 on freshman Grace Verhage's third tally of the year from Gilmore.

Overall, FSU owned a 15-7 margin in total shots, including an 8-3 edge in shots on goal. Both teams finished with two corner kick tries.

FSU's Taryn Meiste earned her fourth victory of the year in net by making three saves in 90 minutes of action.

The loss went to Northwood's Bridget Adams, who finished with six saves.

Ferris State improved to 14-2-2 overall with the win and closed GLIAC play with a 6-1 conference mark.

Tickets for Tuesday's GLIAC Quarterfinal will be sold starting one hour prior to match time. The first 100 FSU students with a valid ID card will earn free admission.
