Big Rapids, Mich. - For the second-straight game and third in the last four outings, the nationally #9 ranked Ferris State University women's soccer team required over 100 minutes to find a result, but this time, Bulldog freshman Lindsay Cole gave FSU its first overtime victory of the season with a 3-2 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) victory over the Northern Michigan Wildcats at the Bulldog Soccer Field on Friday (Oct. 15).

Ferris State junior Nikki May tallied a goal and an assist in the contest to lead the Bulldogs offensively in a game that featured 43 shots.

To get the win, the Bulldogs had to first erase a pair of one-goal deficits. Northern Michigan got on the board first when Ashley Koch scored at 27:27 of the game for a 1-0 NMU lead.

In the waning moments of the first half, a free kick for Ferris State would ultimately even the contest as May roped her free kick attempt for the top left to tie the game at 1-1. The goal was May's first as a Bulldog.

Midway through the second half, Brooke Pietila gave NMU the lead back at 64:39, but the lead lasted less than a minute.

Soon after, at 65:30, May flew a ball into the scoring area where Ferris State senior Grace VerHage got loose and headed the ball past NMU keeper Shenae Kreps to tie the game at 2-2. The goal was VerHage's seventh of the season, while May picked up her third assist of the campaign.

In the first overtime, the Wildcats tested Ferris State freshman keeper Darya Mosallaei, who responded making three saves to keep NMU off the board.

Finally, at 104:20, VerHage busted past Wildcat defender Caroline Halonen down the right side and fed the ball across the box to Cole, who buried it past a diving keeper for the sudden death victory and her second goal of the year. VerHage earned her team-best sixth assist of the year and 20th point, a career-high.

Ferris State won the shots battle 23-20, including 10-8 in shots on goal. In goal for the Bulldogs, Mosallaei picked up her ninth win of the season, making six saves on the day. Kreps made seven stops in the loss for Northern Michigan.

The Bulldogs will host Parkside on Sunday (Oct. 16) in GLIAC play starting at 1 p.m. (ET) at the Bulldog Soccer Field. The contest will represent FSU's annual Senior Day with the Bulldogs slated to honor their senior class beginning approximately 30 minutes prior to kickoff.
