Ferris State Soccer Ties Findlay in Scoreless Home Action

Big Rapids, Mich. – The Ferris State University women's soccer team faced the Findlay Oilers on Friday (Sept. 13) and competed to a 0-0 tie in the second home game of the 2024 season at the Bulldog Soccer Field.

For the second time in as many seasons, the Bulldogs (1-0-2) played a scoreless game against the Oilers (0-1-1). These two squads also tied 0-0 in Findlay, Ohio, during the 2023 season.

In Friday's game, freshman goalkeeper Morgan Fillion drew the start for Ferris State, playing all 90 minutes and recording six saves. She earned the tie in her second appearance of the season.

Audrey Gibson-Zweifel started at goalkeeper for Findlay. She faced zero shots on goal in the first half before Maria White entered for the second half. 

In the first half, Ferris State attempted six shots, but none of them were on target. Findlay took 10 shots with Fillion saving the three on goal. The Bulldogs had two shots on goal in the second half but were unable to find the net. Fillion made three saves in the second half as well.

FSU attempted five corner kicks, while the Oilers had three. A total of 11 fouls were called on the Bulldogs, and both Bella Vallone and Annie Hartley received yellow cards. The Oilers committed nine fouls. 

Vallone, Lindsay Cole, Ella Wolf and Isabella Baron played all 90 minutes of game action for the Bulldogs. Brinley Bell attempted five shots and had both FSU's shots on goal. Vallone, Cole and Haley Buckman all had two shot attempts.

Ferris State will be back in action Sunday (Sept. 15) for a home contest against the Ashland Eagles. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. (ET) at the Bulldog Soccer Field. It will also be Youth Soccer Appreciation Day with all youth wearing a soccer jersey or FSU soccer camp t-shirt receiving free admission. Additionally, the Bulldogs will welcome back alumni on Sunday for the 25th anniversary of Bulldog Soccer celebration.
