Ferris State Soccer Ties Davenport 0-0 in Road GLIAC Tilt

Caledonia, Mich. – The Ferris State University women's soccer team traveled to Davenport University on Friday (Oct. 25) for a road Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) game and tied the Panthers 0-0.

The Bulldogs (6-3-4, 5-2-2 GLIAC) tied Davenport for the second time this season. Previously, FSU and DU tied 1-1 Sept. 29 in Big Rapids.

In Friday's tie, FSU goalkeeper Morgan Fillion started and played the entire 90 minutes, making two saves along the way. It was the fourth time this year Fillion has held an opponent scoreless.

In the first half, Ferris State attempted only one shot. Davenport had two total attempts, with one being on goal. Each team had one corner kick in the first half.

Ferris State recorded two shots on goal in the second half of play, but DU goalkeeper Elizabeth Wolter made both saves. The Panthers had another shot on goal and Fillion recorded her second save of the afternoon.

The Bulldogs managed three corner kicks in the second half and did not allow Davenport a set piece. For the game, FSU had four corner kicks, two shots on goal and 13 fouls. Davenport had one corner, two shots on goal and 11 fouls. Katherine Welch received a yellow card for the Bulldogs.

Welch and Brinley Bell each had one shot on goal, while Bella Vallone and Haley Buckman also attempted shots. Vallone, Welch, Natalia Leavens and Ella Wolf played all 90 minutes for Ferris State. 

Davenport got a shot on goal from Haley Diekevers and Nadia Buist with Buist being the only player in the game to attempt more than one shot (two). Wolter made two saves in 90 minutes of game action. 

The Bulldogs are currently in third place in the GLIAC standings with five regular season games remaining. Rival Grand Valley State (6-1-2 GLIAC) will visit Big Rapids on Sunday (Oct. 27) for a pivotal conference game. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. (ET) at the Bulldog Soccer Field.
