Ferris State Soccer To Host Davenport In GLIAC Tourney Quarterfinal On Tuesday Afternoon
Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's soccer team will open postseason play at home on Tuesday (Nov. 12) as the Bulldogs earned a 2024 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Tournament quarterfinal round game and will host Davenport at the Bulldog Soccer Field.
FSU, which is seeded fourth overall, will host the fifth-seeded Panthers in the opening round with the game slated for a 1 p.m. (ET) start.
Overall, the Bulldogs finished regular-season play with an 8-6-4 overall record and tied for third place in the league standings with 23 total points on a 7-5-2 league mark.
The other first-round league tourney matchups include #1 seed Northern Michigan hosting #8 Michigan Tech along with #2 Grand Valley State entertaining #7 Parkside. Finally, #3 seed Saginaw Valley State hosts #6 Purdue Northwest on Tuesday.
The winner of each of the four quarterfinal-round contests will advance to the league semifinals on Friday, Nov. 15, at the site of the highest remaining seed. The league championship match is on Sunday, Nov. 17, at the same location.
The Bulldogs will be making their 15th consecutive GLIAC Tournament appearance this season and 17th overall in program history. FSU has advanced to the conference semifinals nine times in the last 12 years to date and won its first league tournament postseason championship three years ago.
This year also marks the seventh time in the past eight seasons in which FSU has hosted at least a tourney quarterfinal.
Ferris State and Davenport battled to a pair of ties in GLIAC regular-season play this year as the two teams tied 1-1 in Big Rapids on Sept. 29 before a 0-0 deadlock on Oct. 25 in Caledonia. FSU is coming off a 1-0 win over Purdue Northwest in the regular-season finale on Saturday (Nov. 9) at home.
