Ferris State Soccer Lands Transfer Goalkeeper Deighton Wamer
Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's soccer program has announced the addition of transfer Deighton Wamer (Oregon, Ohio), who has joined the Bulldogs for the upcoming 2025 fall campaign.
A goalkeeper, Wamer has competed previously on the NCAA Division I level for both Youngstown State University and Northern Illinois University. She will have two years of eligibility remaining for the Bulldogs.
"We're excited to land Deighton and believe she'll be a great addition to the returning talent we have on our roster," said FSU head coach Greg Henson.
Wamer spent the 2024 campaign at Youngstown State following two years at Northern Illinois. She garnered Mid-American Conference Defensive Player of the Week accolades in 2022 at NIU when she appeared in 11 matches with 10 starts.
Prior to her collegiate career, Wamer was ranked 15th overall in the class of 2022 in the Great Lakes Region by Top Drawer Soccer. She played for the Michigan Hawks U18/U19 team in the ECNL, winning the Midwest Conference. She also competed for Detroit City FC in the summer of 2022 and 2023 and will be competing for Toledo Villa FC this summer.
The Bulldogs closed the 2024 season with an 8-7-4 overall record. Overall, the Bulldogs also made their 17th conference tournament in program history and celebrated the 25th anniversary of the program this past fall.
Since Henson's arrival, the Bulldogs have claimed the program's first Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) regular-season title, first league tournament championship, made two NCAA Tournament appearances and advanced to the national semifinals for the first time in school history.
FSU is slated to open the 2025 campaign in late August.
