Total of 170 FSU Student-Athletes Garner GLIAC All-Academic Laurels In 2016-17

Big Rapids, Mich. - A total of 170 Ferris State University student-athletes have achieved Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) All-Academic & All-Academic Excellence Team honors for the recently-completed 2016-17 athletics campaign as announced by the league office on Friday.

The 170 Bulldog student-athletes represent 16 of the school's 17 varsity programs. Along with the GLIAC All-Academic Team honorees, the Bulldogs also had a total of 16 hockey standouts garner Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) All-Academic Team status this school year.

Overall, a total of more than 3,000 student-athletes achieved all-academic recognition from across the 16 conference member institutions this past academic year.

Criteria states the student-athlete must be an active member on the roster at the end of the season, not a freshman or a first year transfer student. All-Academic Teams are comprised of those student-athletes that meet criteria and carry a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0-3.49. Academic Excellence Teams are comprised of student athletes that have a cumulative GPA of 3.50-4.0. Grades are based on marks from the fall semester of 2015.
