Forty-Five Ferris State Spring Student-Athletes Earn GLIAC Academic Honors
Big Rapids, Mich. - A total of 45 Ferris State University student-athletes have achieved Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) All-Academic & All-Academic Excellence Team honors for the recently-completed 2017-18 spring athletics campaign as announced by the league office. The teams are sponsored by Meijer, Inc.
The 45 Bulldog student-athletes represent six varsity programs, including men's and women's golf, men's tennis, softball along with men's and women's outdoor track and field.
Overall, a total of 814 student-athletes achieved all-academic recognition from across the 12 conference member institutions this past spring season.
Ferris State had 17 student-athletes tabbed to the GLIAC All-Academic Team and another 28 who received GLIAC All-Academic Excellence Team recognition. This past academic year, the Bulldogs' nearly 400 student-athletes combined for a cumulative 3.18 overall grade point average.
Criteria states the student-athlete must be an active member on the roster at the end of the season, not a freshman or a first year transfer student. All-Academic Teams are comprised of those student-athletes that meet criteria and carry a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0-3.49. Academic Excellence Teams are comprised of student athletes that have a cumulative GPA of 3.50-4.0. Grades are based on marks from the fall semester of 2017.
