Feris State Athletics Moving Forward With Three Golf Outings In Next Two Weeks

Big Rapids, Mich. - Ferris State University Athletics will welcome alumni, friends and fans at three major golf outings over the next two weeks and the Bulldogs are encouraging those planning to play to follow appropriate social distancing initiatives.

The action gets underway this Saturday (July 18) as the Bulldog Football program hosts its 37th annual golf outing at Clear Lake Golf Course. FSU men's basketball will follow on Wednesday (July 22) with its 17th annual alumni and friends golf event at FSU's Katke Golf Course with the Ferris State Hockey program celebrating its 34th annual golf outing to wrap up the stretch on Saturday, Aug. 1, at Katke Golf Course.

The three events are annual major fundraisers for their respective programs and each have drawn sellout crowds over the past several years. They will represent the first Bulldog Athletics events since the COVID-19 pandemic began in March.

All golfers planning to take part in each outing are asked to observe established physical and social distancing requirements, including bringing and wearing masks for registration and check-in procedures. 

"As an athletic department, our coaches and staff have educated themselves and are very aware of the positive impact that proper physical distancing and the wearing of facial coverings can have in the fight against the spread of the virus," said FSU Athletics Director Perk Weisenburger. "To that end, we have been diligent in our continuing expectation that these best practices remain firmly in place for everyone associated with our athletics programs, including our student-athletes, former players, alumni and most loyal donors.    

"While not an easy process, masks and proper physical distancing will be the expectation on the golf course as we come together in support of these programs," he added.
