Ferris State Athletics Tabs Wes Brennan As New Coordinator Of Athletic Event Operations and Special Projects

Big Rapids, Mich. - Ferris State University Athletics has announced the appointment of Wes Brennan as the school's new Coordinator of Athletic Event Operations and Special Projects.

Brennan, who most recently has served on the athletic facilities and operations staff at Missouri Western State University, officially began his FSU duties on Friday (Aug. 27) and will play a key role helping oversee event operations for both the Bulldogs' various athletic facilities along with game operations for all 17 of FSU's varsity sports programs.

"We're thrilled to add someone of Wes' caliber to our athletics staff and he'll play a key role helping coordinate the logistics for our events as we kickoff another exciting fall season," said FSU Athletics Director Perk Weisenburger. "I want to recognize Tim Blashill and the search committee that he assembled to find the right person for this very important position in our athletics operations."

A former collegiate football student-athlete at Buena Vista University, Brennan served as the athletic facilities and operations graduate assistant at Missouri Western from 2019-21 before moving into the school's operations assistant role. During his time at the institution, he assisted in the operation of all athletic contests and coordinated the maintenance of the various athletic venues in addition to scheduling of both internal and external facility users.

While at Missouri Western State, Brennan was also highly-involved in the administration and football operations of the Kansas City Chiefs Training Camp, which is held annually on the school's campus. He also served as an events service representative directly for the Chiefs, assisting with in-game promotions and special requests during contests at Arrowhead Stadium. During his time with the Chiefs, he has also helped engage fans and guests while responding to fan concerns during National Football League (NFL) games.

"Wes has a wide range of experience and outstanding skills that will help us continue to improve our facility and event operations," said FSU's Manager of Athletic Facilities Tim Blashill. "I'm looking forward to working with him and believe he's a great fit for our needs and will be a huge asset for us."

Brennan also has worked as a season recreational assistant for the City of St. Joseph (Mo.) Parks and Recreation Department, specializing in the care and general upkeep of athletic fields, facilities and grounds in addition to assisting in both the setup of city-sponsored recreation events and projects along with the monitoring and scheduling of city fields.

Prior to his time at Missouri Western State, Brennan served as a student assistant football coach at his alma mater, Buena Vista University, where he helped coach the defensive line. He also worked for Buena Vista as a football office assistant and athletic department intern in addition to being a student equipment manager. Brennan was also a coach and event coordinator for the Bob Brennan Memorial Tournament, assisting in the organization of the first 5-on-5 youth football and 7-on-7 high school passing tournaments in Emmetsburg, Iowa.

A two-time academic all-conference selection as a defensive lineman at Buena Vista, Brennan was a NCAA Division III Senior Classic Invitee in 2018. He later also served as a volunteer coach for the annual Blue-Grey Football All-American Combine and was a resident assistant at Buena Vista. The Iowa native also was a student-athlete academic mentor at Missouri Western State.

Brennan earned his bachelor's degree from Buena Vista University in physical and health education in 2019, graduating Magna Cum Laude, and received his master's degree in applied science with a sport and fitness management emphasis this past May.
