Ferris State Men's Basketball Further Bolsters Standout Class With Detroit Addition
Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's basketball program has bolstered an already strong recruiting class with the latest addition of talented prep guard/forward Noah King (Detroit/Jesuit), who inked with the Bulldogs during the spring signing period.
King, who will be a freshman in eligibility next fall, led Detroit Jesuit High School to the Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) Class A State Semifinals this past March under prep head coach Pat Donnelly. He was both a Detroit Free Press All-State selection along with an All-Metro Detroit honoree this past year.
Additionally, the 6-4 King claimed All-Catholic League laurels and was ranked 31st overall by Inside Prep Sports in the state of Michigan's class of 2014.
"Noah is a good student, versatile basketball player and comes from a winning program, which makes him a perfect fit for us at Ferris State," said FSU head coach Andy Bronkema. "We're excited to add him to what has developed into a strong recruiting class and looking forward to having him on-campus this fall."
King tallied nearly 13 points along with six rebounds and two assists per game as a senior while shooting better than 52% from the floor. He also connected on 40% of his three-point tries and shot 73% from the charity stripe for Detroit Jesuit on the prep level. In addition, the standout wing also played AAU basketball for the REACH Legends.
His addition continues a longstanding Bulldog tradition of landing some of the top talent from the Detroit area, which in recent years has included past standouts such as Darien Gay (Henry Ford), Dontae Molden (Pershing), Raymoan McAfee (Pershing), Daniel Sutherlin (Renaissnace), Kenny Brown (Farmington) and Dietrich Lever (Canton).
King is presently the fifth official signee this spring for the Bulldogs and the seventh overall in the 2014 recruiting class as FSU also inked a pair of early signees for this coming year last fall. Six of the seven additions are coming off standout seasons in the high school ranks.
The Ferris State men's basketball program has a long track record of success that includes more than 1,000 all-time victories, 13 GLIAC Championships and nine NCAA Tournament appearances. FSU has also reached the GLIAC Postseason Tournament eight of the last 10 years, which ranks as one of the conference's top showings over the past decade. The Bulldogs have won four league championships and twice reached the NCAA Division II Sweet Sixteen since 2004.
This past season, under Bronkema's directon for the first time, marked the 12th consecutive year to date in which FSU has finished with double-digit victories. With the exception of senior forward Raymoan McAfee, the remainder of the Bulldogs' squad is eligible to return this fall.
