Ferris State Basketball Back At Home Saturday To Host Saginaw Valley State

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's and women's basketball squads will return home to Jim Wink Arena to play their final two regular-season contests starting this Saturday (Feb. 21).

The Bulldogs will host Saginaw Valley State on Saturday in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) twinbill in Big Rapids. The women's game tips off at 1 p.m. (ET) with the men's game to follow at approximately 3 p.m. (ET). The home action will be presented by Trigger Time Outfitters.

Saturday will be "Upward Day" with all participants in the area youth basketball program receiving free admission compliments of Bush Insurance by presenting their Upward ID cards received at the program registration.

The Ferris State men's basketball squad presently holds an 18-8 overall record this season and has clinched a berth in the GLIAC Tournament along with a quarterfinal-round home game to be played on Wednesday, March 4. FSU is coming off a close 74-73 setback on Thursday night to Hillsdale on the road in league play.

In Thursday's contest at Hillsdale, FSU senior guard Drew Lehman tallied a game and personal career-high 37 points, which was the highest figure for a Bulldog player since 2002 and the most scored in a regulation contest since 1994. Saturday's opponent, Saginaw Valley State, is ranked 24th in the nation.

Meanwhile, the women's squad is coming off a decisive 69-49 victory on the road Thursday night at Hillsdale, which represented the Bulldogs' second-straight double digit win. Ferris State posted its most decisive win of the year earlier this year against Saginaw Valley State by a 77-48 count on Jan. 31 in University Center.

The action doesn't stop there as the Bulldogs will then host archrival Grand Valley State to conclude the regular-season on Thursday, Feb. 26, inside Wink Arena. The league doubleheader versus GVSU starts at 6 & 8 p.m. (ET) for the women and men, respectively.

The two-game set versus the Lakers next Thursday will represent Faculty Appreciation Night as the Bulldogs honor and recognize campus faculty members. All faculty can receive free admission for themselves and a guest compliments of Meemic Insurance and selected faculty will be honored at halftime of the women's game.

Along with Faculty Appreciation Night, the twinbill against the Lakers will also serve as Student-Athlete Night with FSU student-athletes encouraged to attend and it will be Senior Night as the Bulldogs honor and recognize senior players on both the men's and women's teams.
