Rivalry Night This Thursday As Ferris State Hosts GVSU In Regular-Season Finales

Big Rapids, Mich. - Rivalry night is set for this Thursday (Feb. 26) as the Ferris State University men's and women's basketball squads host archrival Grand Valley State in their final regular-season home contests inside FSU's Jim Wink Arena.

The two West Michigan schools will conclude the regular-season with the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) doubleheader starting at 6 and 8 p.m. (ET) for the women and men, respectively.

The two-game set versus the Lakers on Thursday will represent Faculty Appreciation Night as the Bulldogs honor and recognize campus faculty members. All faculty can receive free admission for themselves and a guest compliments of Meemic Insurance and selected faculty will be honored at halftime of the women's game.

Along with Faculty Appreciation Night, the twinbill against the Lakers will also serve as Student-Athlete Night with FSU student-athletes encouraged to attend and it will be Senior Night as the Bulldogs honor and recognize senior players on both the men's and women's teams between games.

Adult general admission tickets are $7 or the cost is $5 for FSU faculty/staff, seniors ages 65 and up or students age 3 thru 12th grade. FSU students are admitted free with a valid student ID card.

The Bulldog men's squad is coming off a big 78-72 home win over nationally 24th-ranked Saginaw Valley State on Saturday (Feb. 21) afternoon inside Wink Arena. FSU has clinched a spot in the GLIAC Postseason Tournament and will host an opponent to be determined on Wednesday, March 4, at 7 p.m. (ET) in the opening round of the event. The Bulldogs are 19-8 on the year and 15-6 in league action. FSU can finish anywhere from second to fourth in terms of conference seeding for the tournament pending the results of this week's action.

Thursday's opponent, GVSU, is among a group of four teams battling for the final spot in the GLIAC Tournament. The Lakers have won three-straight games and own a 13-14 record with a 9-12 league mark. FSU and GVSU previously battled to a thrilling overtime game won by the Bulldogs 96-85 on Feb. 2 in Allendale.

On the women's side, the Bulldogs will wrap up the 2014-15 campaign against the Lakers, who posted a close 69-59 win over FSU in Allendale on Feb. 2. The Bulldogs have won two of their last three games and are 11-13 overall along with 9-12 in the GLIAC while GVSU is 18-7 on the year and 15-6 in conference action.

Both games will be broadcast locally by Sunny 97.3 FM and the Bulldog Sports Network starting with the Meijer Pregame Show at 5:30 p.m. (ET) from courtside at Wink Arena. Rob Bentley and Sandy Gholston will call the action with the live audio broadcast also accessible at FerrisStateBulldogs.com.

In addition, FSU will provide a live pay-per-view HD video production and live internet statistics for both contests.
