2019 GLIAC Tournament Quarterfinals To Be Held On Tuesday, March 5

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced the 2019 conference tournament quarterfinals will take place on Tuesday, March 5.

The GLIAC Tournament typically has began with quarterfinal-round action on a Wednesday night, but the adjustment was made this year due to the fact the regular-season ends two days earlier than in previous years.

This season, the tournament quarterfinals will take place on campus sites of the top four teams on Tuesday (March 5) night with the top remaining seed then scheduled to host the league semifinals on Saturday, March 9, and the tournament championship game on Sunday, March 10.

Official game times and matchups will be announced following the conclusion of conference regular-season action next Thursday (Feb. 28).

The Ferris State men's basketball squad is the four-time defending league tournament champion and has already clinched a berth for this year's tournament. The Bulldogs currently lead the GLIAC North Division standings and are third overall in the conference and would play host to a quarterfinal-round home game by finishing in the top four.

Meanwhile, the Bulldog women's teams is presently midst a four-way tie for fifth-place overall in the GLIAC and needs a single win to earn a berth again this year after reaching the league semifinals last season. Four teams have already earned tourney quarterfinal home games, which means FSU would be on the road for the first round should the Bulldogs receive a berth.

This week, both Ferris State teams begin their final three-game stretch to end the regular-season with a pair of road tilts. FSU will visit Purdue Northwest for men's and women's action on Thursday (Feb. 21) evening before visiting Wisconsin-Parkside on Saturday (Feb. 23). The Bulldogs finish regular-season play on Feb. 28 at Lake Superior State.
