Ferris State Basketball Kicks Off Season With Exhibition Win Over Muskegon CC

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's basketball squad kicked off the 2019-20 season as the Bulldogs rolled to a 101-59 exhibition win over Muskegon Community College on Saturday (Oct. 19) evening at Jim Wink Arena in Big Rapids.

The Bulldogs began year seven under head coach Andy Bronkema by storming past the Jayhawks in the preseason tilt.

FSU jumped in front early and built a 47-31 halftime lead against the junior college opponent before totaling 54 points in the final half to earn the win.

Ferris State, which has won 20 games or more each of the past five seasons, was led by senior captain Greg Williams, who finished with a game-high 21 points while adding four steals in the triumph.

The Bulldogs also got 13 points each from senior center Cole Walker, who finished with a double-double effort, along with newcomer Dorian Aluyi. Freshman Deng Reng had 10 points in his debut.

Muskegon Community College was led by Kylan Shipp's team-high 19 points. Vejas Grazulis posted a double-double effort with 11 points and 12 boards while Jerome Bivins notched 11 points.

Ferris State held MCC to only 38.1% shooting, including a five-of-26 (19.2%) effort behind the three-point stripe. FSU also sank 20-of-25 (80%) free throws.

The Bulldogs will take on their stars from the past on Sunday (Oct. 20) as they host their annual Alumni Game at Wink Arena starting at 3 p.m. (ET). FSU will then host Calvin University in its final preseason contest on Tuesday (Oct. 22) beginning at 7 p.m. (ET) in Big Rapids.
