Ferris State Men's Basketball Picked #11 Nationally And Tops In Region By D2SIDA

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's basketball squad, which captured the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Championship for the third time in four seasons last year, has received further preseason acclaim and is now a consensus top 20 team in every Division II national poll announced to date.

The Bulldogs, who were earlier tabbed as the nation's preseason #17 squad by The Basketball Times, have been chosen 11th this week by the Division II Sports Information Directors (D2SIDA) and were also picked #15 last week by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC).

The Bulldogs, who compiled a 27-6 overall record last season en route to a NCAA Tournament appearance, are the lone GLIAC member school found in any of the top 20 national listings.

Along with being ranked as high as 11th by D2SIDA, the Bulldogs are also the organization's preseason #1 team in the D2SIDA Midwest Regional Rankings.

The Bulldogs, who captured the 2018 NCAA Division II National Championship, have currently won 20 games or more six consecutive seasons. FSU has also reached the NCAA Tournament five of the past six years, including last March when the tournament was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

FSU's 2020-21 conference schedule begins at home against the Ashland Eagles on Jan. 8-9 with official starting times and any non-conference competition still to be announced. Ferris State will welcome back nine letter winners from last season's squad along with three redshirt freshmen while adding six newcomers to the mix.
