Bulldogs Pull Away From Calvin In Exhibition Triumph

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's basketball team picked up an 85-61 win over Calvin University in exhibition play on Saturday (Oct. 29) inside Jim Wink Arena.

Ferris State redshirt junior Dolapo Olayinka scored 16 points to lead the contest in scoring, and chipped in four boards, four assists and a pair of steals in the game. Off the bench, redshirt sophomore Deng Reng scored 11 to go with four rebounds and three steals with a block on the night.

The game was knotted at 32-32 at the break, but the Bulldogs shot it 56.8 percent from the field in the second half while holding the Knights to just eight made field goals in the second period, outscoring them 53-29.

On the night, Ferris State shot the ball 50 percent and held Calvin to just 31.7 percent shooting on the game. The Bulldogs were hot from deep, converting for a 46.2 percent mark, while holding Calvin to 5-29 from beyond the arc.

Feris State got a strong night from their depth, scoring 37 points off the bench. Sophomore Mykel Bingham had eight points on 4-of-7 shooting with five rebounds. Bulldog redshirt junior Ben Davidson and redshirt sophomore Solomon Oraegbu each netted nine points for the Bulldog starters on the night.

Calvin was led in scoring by Jalen Overway's 15 points with Uchenna Egekeze chipping in 12 for the Knights.

A total of 14 Bulldogs saw action in the exhibition contest as FSU Head Coach Andy Bronkema worked deep into the bench with all but three Bulldogs registering points in the contest.

Ferris State is headed for an exhibition meeting with the University of Michigan Wolverines on Friday (Nov. 4) inside Crisler Arena at 7 p.m. (ET). Radio broadcast coverage will be live on the Bulldog Sports Network and Sunny 97.3 FM on Friday starting at 6:30 p.m. (ET) from Ann Arbor.
