FSU Takes Down Top 10 Ranked Minnesota Duluth At Champions Classic

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's basketball squad notched an exciting 71-64 win over Minnesota Duluth to wrap up the Champions Classic on Saturday (Nov. 19) evening in Aberdeen, S.D.

The Bulldogs closed out the national event with a perfect 2-0 mark after knocking off a UMD squad that has been listed as a consensus top 10 team in the national preseason polls.

FSU trailed by five points at halftime, but outscored Minnesota-Duluth 51-39 in the second half to earn the triumph.

Junior Ben Davidson led the Bulldogs with 10 points in the contest, but was the lone FSU player to reach double-digits in the win. Solomon Oraegbu added nine points with four others scoring eight points for FSU.

The Bulldogs shot 42.9% from the field and went six-of-19 (31.6%) from long range while making 17-of-25 (68%) free throws.

Meanwhile, the Ferris State defensive unit limited Duluth to only 33.8% shooting, with UMD finishing with only five made three-point baskets on 19 attempts (26.3%).

The Bulldogs owned a slim 46-40 margin on the glass and had three players record nine rebounds apiece in Dolapo Olayinka, Vejas Grazulis and Reece Hazelton.

Ferris State will return home to host its own Thanksgiving Classic on Nov. 22-23 at Jim Wink Arena. FSU will face Great Lakes Christian in the 2022-23 home opener on Tuesday at 5 p.m. (ET) before entertaining Ashland on Wednesday starting at 7 p.m. (ET).
