
Ferris State Men's Golf Wins Midwest Region Preview In Missouri!
Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's golf team captured first place overall at the Midwest Region Preview as play wrapped up on Tuesday (Oct. 1) at the St. Joseph Country Club in St. Joseph, Mo.
The Bulldogs shot a 857 team score for the 54 hole event, topping runner-up Missouri-St. Louis (864) by seven strokes in the 17-team field. FSU opened with a 292 in round one and a 276 in round two before finishing with a 289 score in Tuesday's 18 holes of play.
Individually, the Bulldogs' Sam Havey tied for third place overall at two-under par for the tournament, shooting a 211 figure for the three rounds. He carded a 71 in round one followed by a 68 in the second round and a 72 in the third round of play.
FSU's McCoy Biagioli moved up five spots on the leaderboard in the final round and placed fifth overall at 212, notching a 69 in the last round. He had shot scores of 73 and 70 in rounds one and two, respectively.
The Bulldogs' Kole Putnam came in tied for seventh overall at 214 for the event. Putnam shot a 73 in the first round and a 66 in round two before closing with a 75 on Tuesday.
Ferris State's Zach Koerner placed tied for 19th in the field at 220 for the three rounds, registering a 73 over the final 18 holes. Koerner carded scores of 75 and 72 in the first and second round, respectively, on Monday.
Meanwhile, Drayton Cleaver finished tied for 64th at 231 overall. He shot a 77 in the first round and a 72 in round two to go with a 82 in round three.
FSU's Shayne Beaufait also competed as an individual for the Bulldogs and wound up tied for 44th with a 226 figure. He opened with a 79 in round one, but came back with scores of 73 in round two and 74 in round three.
The Bulldogs will next compete in the Doc Spragg Fall Invite hosted by the University of Findlay on Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 14-15, in Findlay, Ohio.
