Ferris State's Cody Chupp Named To Lowe's Senior CLASS All-America Team

Ferris State University men's ice hockey captain Cody Chupp (Big Rapids) has been named to the 2009-10 Lowe's Senior CLASS Award All-America Second Team in an announcement made this Friday (April 9) by Lowe's at the NCAA Frozen Four in Detroit, Mich.
Chupp, a two-time (2008-09 and 2009-10) team captain, was one of five men's ice hockey student-athletes to earn second-team laurels. Colin Greening of Cornell was selected as the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award winner for men's ice hockey as chosen by a nationwide vote of media, fans, and coaches.
Chupp capped off his senior season in 2009-10 finishing third among Ferris State's top points producers with a career season-best tying 30 points on nine goals with a season-high 21 assists in 35 contests. He also registered a squad-leading plus 13 efficiency rating while tallying five power-play lamplighters, one game-winning marker, and eight multiple-point game outings. Chupp, who recently inked amateur tryout agreement with the Texas Stars of the American Hockey League (AHL), equalled his career season high of 30 points (11-19=30) set in 39 games for the 2007-08 campaign.
The 6-1, 192-pound right wing concluded his four-year (2006-10) Ferris State career by amassing 95 points with 35 goals and 60 assists in 144 games. Chupp currently ranks tied for 33rd place in the Bulldogs' all-time annals in assists while being listed 35th in points and tied for 42nd in goals.
Chupp was the inaugural recipient of the Bulldog hockey program's Community Service Award in the 2008-09 season. He was winner of Ferris' Lloyd Earl Trophy as the team's leading scorer in 2007-08 while also being named as the Blue Line Competitive Award recipient as the team's top competitor. Chupp was also bestowed with the 2006-07 team's Rookie of the Year Award.
An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School, the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities. The award identifies personal qualities that define a complete student-athlete, with criteria including community service, excellence in the classroom, outstanding character and competition on the field.
Chupp was a key contributor this season in helping nationally-ranked Ferris State to a 21-13-6 overall record, which included a third-place 13-9-6-4 mark (49 points) in the final Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) standings. FSU also made its first CCHA Championship appearance at Detroit's Joe Louis Arena in eight years.
