Two Former FSU Skaters Help Texas Stars To 2010 Calder Cup Finals

The Ferris State University men's ice hockey program will have representation in the 2010 American Hockey League's (AHL) Calder Cup Playoff Finals as former Bulldogs Greg Rallo (Gurnee, Ill.) and Cody Chupp (Big Rapids) are current members of the Texas Stars.

Texas will be taking on the Eastern Conference Champion Hershey Bears for the 2010 AHL Championship title, which gets underway Thursday, June 3, at Hershey, Pa.  The best-of-seven series is scheduled from June 3-16.  Texas won the Robert W. Clarke Trophy as the Western Conference Champions after winning a seven-game series with the Hamilton (Ontario) Bulldogs.

Rallo played at Ferris State from 2002-06 and compiled 108 career points with 46 goals and 62 assists in 152 contests at the forward position.  He was tabbed as the Bulldogs' 2005-06 Most Valuable Player and earned the program's Lloyd Earl Trophy with a team-leading 39 points on 17 goals and 22 helpers in 40 encounters.

This season for Texas, Rallo has currently recorded a team fourth-most tying 44 points with 19 goals and 25 assists in 69 games.  He played the two previous seasons (2007-08 and 2008-09) with the AHL's Manitoba Moose prior to his current stint with Texas and has been playing professionally since 2006.  Rallo was a member of the 2007 Idaho Steelheads which claimed the East Coast Hockey League's (ECHL) Kelly Cup.

Chupp totaled a career single-season best tying 30 points on nine goals with a season-high 21 assists in 35 outings for the 2009-10 campaign.  The two-time (2008-09 and 2009-10) team captain was named to the 2009-10 Lowe's Senior CLASS Award All-America Second Team.  He was the program's inaugural recipient of the Community Service Award in the 2008-09 season after receiving the Lloyd Earl Trophy as the 2007-08 squad's top scorer and the Blue Line Competitive Award as the team's top competitor in the same season.  Chupp accumulated 95 points with 35 goals and 60 assists in 144 career matchups during his four-year (2006-10) career.

Chupp, who signed a amateur tryout agreement with Texas on March 26, has presently notched one point on an assist in nine appearance for the Stars this 2009-10 season.
