Future Bulldogs Represented In Junior Hockey Postseason Tournaments

The Ferris State University men's ice hockey program is presently being represented at junior hockey tournaments in both the United States of America and Canada as incoming Bulldog recruits Andy Huff (Howell), Garrett Thompson (Traverse City), and Cory Kane (Irvine, Calf.) are hoping to win championship titles for their respective teams.

The trio are set to join the Ferris State men's ice hockey team beginning with the upcoming 2010-11 season.

Andy Huff and Garrett Thompson, who are both forwards for the Traverse City (Mich.) North Stars of the North American Hockey League (NAHL), have been a vital part in the team's success this season.  The pair helped Traverse City capture the 2010 NAHL North Division Playoff Championship and are currently vying for the Robertson Cup as the league's overall playoff champion.  The four-game round-robin NAHL Robertson Cup Championship Tournament is presently being held from May 4-9 at the Town Toyota Center in Wenatchee, Wash.  The championship game for the Robertson Cup will be conducted this Sunday, May 9.  All NAHL Robertson Cup Playoff games can be viewed via B2Networks at this link.     

Garrett Thompson presently has compiled a team second-most 10 points with six goals and four assists in eight playoff outings this season.  A 2010 NAHL Junior Player of the Year nominee, the 6-4, 195-pound Thompson has accumulated a squad second-best 50 points on a team-leading 24 goals and 26 assists in 57 games this campaign to go with a plus 30 efficiency rating and four game-winning lamplighters. 

Andy Huff has produced six points with a pair of goals and four helpers in eight postseason appearances to date.  The 6-2, 210-pound skater generated a team sixth-highest 37 points total as a result of 22 goals and 15 assists in 55 outings while netting four game winners. 

Cory Kane, a member of the British Columbia Hockey League's (BCHL) Vernon (British Columbia) Vipers, is midst helping his team defend their Royal Bank Cup as the Canadian Junior A Champion.  The Vipers have already claimed the Fred Page Cup as the BCHL's Eastern Division Champions for the 2009-10 season.  Kane has currently chalked up 10 points with two goals and eight assists in 19 playoff encounters this campaign.  In 79 games overall this season, the 6-3, 190-pound forward has totaled 24 goals and 41 assists for a team sixth-most 65 points.

Both Andy Huff and Cory Kane inked with Ferris State during last November's early signing period.

Ferris State, under head coach Bob Daniels, concluded the 2009-10 season with a 21-13-6 overall record as the season wins total marked a tie for the fourth most in the program's history.
