Huntsville, Ala. - The Ferris State University men's ice hockey team outshot the Alabama-Huntsville Chargers 42-18 on the night, but were unable to crack UAH goaltender David Fessenden in a 2-0 loss in Western Colleguate Hockey Association (WCHA) play on Saturday (Jan. 9) at the Von Braun Center in Huntsville, Ala.

Ferris State had shot advantages of 10-3 in the first period, 13-10 in the second, and 19-5 in the third, but Fessenden managed to keep the Bulldogs off the board.

The Chargers opened the scoring at 17:04 of the second period when Connor Merkley scored on a break down the middle.

Shortly after, the Chargers made it 2-0 when Tyrone Bronte scored on the power play at 18:27 of the second period on a shot that deflected off of Bronte, and then a Bulldog who was defending the cross ice pass before it dipped into the open goal.

Ferris State went 0-6 on the man advantage while the Chargers went 1-4. In goal, freshman goaltender Logan Stein made 18 saves for the Bulldogs.

The Bulldogs return home to take on the Michigan Tech Huskies on Friday and Saturday (Jan. 15-16) at the Ewigleben Ice Arena in WCHA action.
