Ferris State's Ethan Stewart Named CCHA Forward of the Week

Big Rapids, Mich. - Ferris State University men's ice hockey senior forward Ethan Stewart was named the Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) Forward of the Week for his three-point performance against the St. Thomas Tommies this past weekend (Jan. 14-15) at the Ewigleben Ice Arena.

Stewart played an integral role in Ferris State's 3-1 Friday win with an assist on FSU's first goal, helping get the puck out of the faceoff scrum to junior defenseman Blake Evennou, who put the Bulldogs on the board. Down 3-0 Saturday, Stewart netted a highlight-reel power play goal, finishing off a nifty Z-pass pattern for a power play goal to spark the Bulldog comeback effort. He had an assist, minutes later, on a goal that got the Bulldogs back within a goal, finding sophomore forward Jacob Dirks across the net-mouth. He was a team-best +3 on the weekend, and scored on 33.3 percent of his shots on goal while blocking two shots.

For the Dawgs, this is their fifth CCHA weekly honor of the season, and Stewart's first career Conference Weekly Award.

This weekend, the Bulldogs hit the road to face the Bemidji State Beavers in CCHA play. The following weekend, fans can see Stewart and the rest of the Bulldogs in action against long-time rival Bowling Green as they return home on Friday and Saturday, (Jan. 28-29) inside the Ewigleben Ice Arena.
