Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's ice hockey team defeated the Bowling Green Falcons 2-1 in overtime in Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) action Saturday (Jan. 29) when senior forward Marshall Moise ripped in his team-leading eighth goal of the year for two CCHA standings points at the Ewigleben Ice Arena.

Ferris State sophomore goaltender Logan Stein put on a clinic early, making 17 first period stops to settle the Bulldogs into the game before they jumped in front en route to a victory.

The game went scoreless early into the second period, despite a 17-7 shots on goal advantage for the visiting Falcons. Ferris State turned the tides of the game just ten seconds into a second period on the power play.

Ferris State took the lead at 1:58 of the second frame when sophomore Kaleb Ergang deflected in a shot for the second-straight night, giving him his third goal of the year and a 1-0 Bulldog lead. Ferris State sophomore defenseman Luke Farthing (2) and senior defenseman Brendon Michaelian (9) picked up the helpers on the power play goal.

The Bulldogs earned a five-minute major power play when BGSU's Evan Dougherty was assessed a game-misconduct for checking from behind, leading to a 16-7 advantage in shots on goal in the second period for Ferris State to nearly even the shot-count on the night.

Late in the period, Ferris State sophomore forward Mitch Deelstra appeared to score a highlight reel goal for a 2-0 Bulldog lead, but the goal was wiped out as officials reviewed the goal and overturned it as the Bulldogs had gone offsides.

Early in the third period, the Falcons took advantage of a power play when Sam Craggs ripped a low shot past Stein to tie the game at 1-1.

In the final minute of regulation, Moise had a breakaway chance staved off, and the Falcons had several in-zone looks near the buzzer that Stein had to fight off to force overtime.

Finally, at 1:24 of overtime, Ferris State junior defenseman Blake Evennou (6) fed a cross-ice pass to Moise, who beat BGSU forward Austen Swankler down the right wing lane for a partial breakaway. Moise netted the game-winner, beating Bowling Green netminder Christian Stoever five-hole for the victory and his eighth goal of the year.

Ferris State was outshot 17-7 in the first period, but outshot Bowling Green 28-16 the rest of the way.

In goal, Stein made 32 stops for the win while Stoever made 33 in the loss for Bowling Green.

Ferris State went 1-5 on the man advantage and held Bowling Green 1-4. The Falcons took 11 penalties for 41 minutes including two game-misconducts while Ferris State took eight penalties for 16 minutes in a contentious contest.

The Bulldogs are off next weekend, and return to CCHA play following the scheduled off-weekend at Lake Superior State on Friday, Feb. 11, at Taffy Abel Ice Arena beginning at 7:07 p.m. (ET) in Sault Ste. Marie.
