Big Rapids, Mich. - Ferris State University senior men's tennis player Kyle Revall has been tabbed as one of 12 spring season recipients of the prestigious Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Commissioner's Award sponsored by Meijer, Inc.

The announcement of this spring's six male and six female honorees was made recently by the league office.

The GLIAC Commissioner's Awards are presented following the conclusion of the fall, winter and spring seasons to six deserving female and male winners each based on those who excel both in the classroom and on the field of play.

In addition to Revall, this spring's male recipients include: Kyle Gendron of Grand Valley State, Matt Malloure of Grand Valley State, Charles Wysong of Hillsdale, Ken Gilkerson of Michigan Tech and Brady Cooper of Wayne State. The six female student-athletes include: Abby Kacsandi of Ashland, Stephanie Charnigo of Findlay, Caitlin Bennett of Grand Valley State, Megan Eddy of Northwood, Jamie Swick of Northwood and Casey Hanes of Wayne State.

"These 12 student-athletes that represent, their institutions, the GLIAC, and their respective communities truly embody the term student-athlete," stated GLIAC Comissioner Dell Robinson. "Their pursuit of excellence on and off field serves as a monumental testament of the talented young leaders we have in this conference.  I will look to them to be the leaders of the future.

"The GLIAC greatly appreciates the support of Meijer for their sponsorship of the 2009-10 Commissioner's Award," he added. "The award, and the continued support by Meijer, are evidence of our pursuit of academic excellence."

Revall, who ranked 12th in this spring's ITA Division II Midwest Regional Singles Rankings, received All-GLIAC laurels for the first time this campaign and posted an 8-7 overall record this year at the number one singles position.  He posted a 4-3 individual ledger in GLIAC singles matches and won five of his last eight decisions overall.  In doubles play, Revall teamed with junior Steven Roberts at the top flight to record a 4-3 mark in GLIAC competition and a 7-12 overall record.  They won seven of their last 11 matches as a duo.

The 6-1 Revall concluded his Bulldog career with a 22-18 singles mark along with a 19-25 record in doubles play over the course of his two-year Bulldog stint. He was also honored as this year's ITA Midwest Region Arthur Ashe Award recipient for Leadership and Sportsmanship along with being chosen as FSU's team Most Valuable Player Award recipient.

Revall's played this past season helped the Ferris State men's team to a 12-8 overall record.  The Bulldogs also made their 13th consecutive and 16th overall NCAA-II Regional Tournament appearance in 2009-10. FSU placed third overall at the 2010 GLIAC Men's Tennis Tournament following a second-place (6-1) league regular-season finish.
