Kyle Revall Claims GLIAC Commissioner's Award

Big Rapids, Mich. - Ferris State University senior men's tennis
player Kyle Revall
has been tabbed as one of 12 spring season recipients of the
prestigious Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC)
Commissioner's Award sponsored by Meijer, Inc.
The announcement of this spring's six male and six female honorees
was made recently by the league office.
The GLIAC Commissioner's Awards are presented following the
conclusion of the fall, winter and spring seasons to six deserving
female and male winners each based on those who excel both in the
classroom and on the field of play.
In addition to Revall, this spring's male recipients include: Kyle
Gendron of Grand Valley State, Matt Malloure of Grand Valley State,
Charles Wysong of Hillsdale, Ken Gilkerson of Michigan Tech and
Brady Cooper of Wayne State. The six female student-athletes
include: Abby Kacsandi of Ashland, Stephanie Charnigo of Findlay,
Caitlin Bennett of Grand Valley State, Megan Eddy of Northwood,
Jamie Swick of Northwood and Casey Hanes of Wayne State.
"These 12 student-athletes that represent, their institutions, the
GLIAC, and their respective communities truly embody the term
student-athlete," stated GLIAC Comissioner Dell Robinson. "Their
pursuit of excellence on and off field serves as a monumental
testament of the talented young leaders we have in this
conference. I will look to them to be the leaders of the
future.
"The GLIAC greatly appreciates the support of Meijer for their
sponsorship of the 2009-10 Commissioner's Award," he added. "The
award, and the continued support by Meijer, are evidence of our
pursuit of academic excellence."
Revall, who ranked 12th in this spring's ITA Division II Midwest Regional Singles Rankings, received All-GLIAC laurels for the first time this campaign and posted an 8-7 overall record this year at the number one singles position. He posted a 4-3 individual ledger in GLIAC singles matches and won five of his last eight decisions overall. In doubles play, Revall teamed with junior Steven Roberts at the top flight to record a 4-3 mark in GLIAC competition and a 7-12 overall record. They won seven of their last 11 matches as a duo.
The 6-1 Revall concluded his Bulldog career with a 22-18 singles
mark along with a 19-25 record in doubles play over the course of
his two-year Bulldog stint. He was also honored as this year's ITA
Midwest Region Arthur Ashe Award recipient for Leadership and
Sportsmanship along with being chosen as FSU's team Most Valuable
Player Award recipient.
Revall's played this past season helped the Ferris State men's
team to a 12-8 overall record. The Bulldogs also made their
13th consecutive and 16th overall NCAA-II Regional Tournament
appearance in 2009-10. FSU placed third overall at the 2010 GLIAC
Men's Tennis Tournament following a second-place (6-1) league
regular-season finish.
