Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's tennis team will square off against the Northwood Timberwolves in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) battle of nationally-ranked and undefeated conference teams on Thursday, April 8, at the FSU Racquet and Fitness Center.

The Bulldogs, who are presently ranked 38th in the most recent (March 30) Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division II National Rankings, will face the 15th-ranked Timberwolves at 1 p.m. (EDT). Admission to the match is free.

Additionally, both teams are currently unbeaten at 4-0 in league play and tied with Wayne State atop the GLIAC standings.

Ferris State enters Thursday's match with a 8-5 overall record to date and all five setbacks have came against either NCAA Division I competition or teams ranked higher in the NCAA Division II National Rankings.

Northwood, which heads into the match having won its last five consecutive outings, holds a 6-3 overall mark this campaign and is listed first in the latest ITA Midwest Regional Rankings with the Bulldogs coming in fourth.

FSU senior Kyle Revall is currently the region’s 12th-ranked singles player with fellow senior Ahmet Demir ranked 14th in the region.  NU also has a pair of players listed in the regional singles rankings with junior Peter Kazianschuetz ranked second and senior Frederic Schoelzel third.  Together, the Northwood duo is also second in the region's doubles listing.

The Timberwolves have presently won the last 20-straight matches between the two teams with FSU's last win over Northwood coming in the 1999 GLIAC Tournament Championship match by a 5-4 score.  Overall, Northwood has claimed 15 consecutive GLIAC Championships to date.

Following Thursday's match, the Bulldogs have only two more regular-season league matches remaining as they will host fellow league leader Wayne State on Sunday, April 11, in a 1 p.m. (EDT) conference tilt before traveling to Grand Valley State on Wednesday, April 14, for their regular-season finale.

The 2010 GLIAC Tournament will be held April 17-18 in Midland, Mich.
