Bulldogs' Razvan Mag Attains GLIAC Weekly Tennis Distinction

Big Rapids, Mich. - Ferris State University senior Razvan Mag has been honored as this week's Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Athlete of the Week for men's tennis.

The announcement was made Thursday by the conference office heading into this weekend's GLIAC Tournament.

Mag helped the Bulldogs to two big wins  last weekend in men's tennis action.  He was a double winner on Friday (April 19) as the Bulldogs bounced back from consecutive losses to beat rival Grand Valley State by a decisive 7-2 score in their final regular-season home match.  He claimed a 6-2, 6-3 win at the fourth flight and paired up with Laurent Galarneau to record a 8-4 doubles win at the number one flight.

Then, on Sunday (April 21), Mag won a critical three-setter in singles action as the Bulldogs battled back from a 3-0 deficit following doubles play to beat Lewis 5-4 in a battle of top four-regionally-ranked teams on the road.  Mag dropped set one 2-6, but fought back to win the last two sets 6-2, 6-4 to pull out the victory.

On the year, he's 11-5 in singles action, including a 7-3 league record, and owns a 12-5 doubles mark for the nationally 34th-ranked Bulldogs.

Mag and the Bulldogs will take part in the 2013 GLIAC Tournament this Friday to Sunday, April 19-21, in Midland, Mich.

FSU will be the third seed for this weekend's event and will face number six seed Tiffin in the first round on Friday (April 19) with match time set for 6:45 p.m. (ET) at the Midland Community Tennis Center.

The second-round matches will take place on Saturday starting at 3:45 p.m. (ET).  The third and final round will take place on Sunday beginning at 8:30 a.m. (ET).
