Men's Tennis Takes #22 Southern Indiana To The Wire In Narrow Road Setback

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's tennis team battled nationlly 22nd-ranked Southern Indiana to the finish, but suffered a narrow 5-4 setback in non-league play late Saturday (March 1) night in Evansville, Ind.

The Screaming Eagles, who are ranked first in the region, took the second and third doubles flights to build a 2-1 lead heading into the singles round.

In singles action, Ferris State earned wins at the number one flight along with the fifth and sixth spots, but Southern Indiana claimed the two, three and four matches in straight-sets to earn the win.

Ferris State, ranked 37th nationlly along with fourth in the region, received singles wins from Laurent Galarneau along with Jose Calero and Andre Giacomazzi Serafim. Galarneau also teamed up with Aaron Dial to post an 8-5 win at the top doubles spot.

FSU dropped to 2-5 overall with the setback while Southern Indiana improved to 8-1 overall this season.

The Bulldogs continue their weekend trip with a visit to Indianapolis on Sunday (March 2) for a 1 p.m. (ET) encounter in Indianapolis, Ind.
