FSU Dominates Walsh To Earn At Least Share Of Third-Straight GLIAC Men's Tennis Championship

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's tennis team clinched at least a share of a third consecutive Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Regular-Season Championship as the Bulldogs dominated Walsh 9-0 on Saturday (April 14) at the Hall of Fame Courts in Canton, Ohio.

FSU opened its final weekend of league regular-season action with a decisive win to run its winning streak to nine-straight matches. With the victory, Ferris State improved to 15-2 overall and 8-0 in the GLIAc this year.

The Bulldogs can win the GLIAC's outright crown by beating second-place Tiffin in the regular-season finale on Saturday (April 15) in Ohio.

Ferris State posted big wins in the doubles round with triumphs of 8-5, 8-2 and 8-4 at the first, second and third flights, respectively.

In singles action, the Bulldogs got a three-set win from sophomore Till Von Winning at the number one flight and took the bottom five positions all in straight-sets against the Cavaliers.

Walsh dropped to 11-11 overall and 3-5 in the GLIAC with the loss to the nation's 15th-ranked Bulldogs, who are also currently still number one in the Midwest Region.

Heading into Saturday's regular-season finale, the Bulldogs are the lone remaining unbeaten squad in the GLIAC. Tiffin and Grand Valley State were tied for second place with identical 6-1 league records heading into an evening showdown on Friday.
