Ferris State Men's Tennis NCAA Regional Match Pushed Back To Saturday

Big Rapids, Mich. - Due to court availability, the Ferris State University men's tennis squad's opening action in the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional this week in Indianapolis has been delayed one day.

The regional action will now begin on Saturday (April 29) rather than Friday with the Bulldogs still slated to play the second regional contest versus Tiffin starting at 2 p.m. (ET). The match is slated to be played outside at Center Grove High School in Greenwood (Ind.) or moved to the UIndy Tennis Center if weather dictates the event taking place indoors.

Host Indianapolis will face McKendree in the first match of the regional at 10 a.m. (ET) with the regional final set for Sunday (April 30) at 10 a.m. (ET).

Top-seeded University of Indianapolis will serve as the host for one of two NCAA D2 Midwest Regionals, which will take place on Saturday and Sunday. A total of eight teams were selected in the Midwest Region with four teams competing in each four-team preliminary regional event to be hosted by Wayne State and the University of Indianapolis.

Overall, a total of 48 teams were chosen from across the country as determined by the NCAA Division II National Committee. Preliminary rounds will be played later this week at 16 various regional sites. The winner of each men's regional tournament will then advance to the NCAA Division II Championships and the Sweet Sixteen slated to take place May 11-16 at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Fla.

The Bulldog men are currently 15-4 overall this year and won the GLIAC's Regular Season Championship with a perfect 6-0 league record. FSU also finished as the conference tournament runner-up over the weekend in Midland.

Ferris State defeated Tiffin earlier this year by a 4-3 score on Feb. 17 in Ohio.

The Ferris State men's tennis squad will be making its 26th all-time NCAA Division II Tournament appearance, including its eighth-straight berth.
