Big Rapids, Mich. - The entire Ferris State University men's tennis starting lineup received All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) honors for the 2024 season and the Bulldogs hauled in a pair of major league awards as the GLIAC unveiled its postseason award recipients on Friday.

FSU's Kevin Kovacs was tabbed as the GLIAC Freshman of the Year while the FSU coaching staff led by head coach Mark Doren garnered GLIAC Coaching Staff of the Year recognition.

Overall, the Bulldogs had six of the 14 representatives on the All-GLIAC First and Second Team as all six members of the starting rotation were on the all-league listing in singles play.

Ferris State's Benjamin Lortie and Esunge Ndumbe both received All-GLIAC First Team laurels in singles action while the quartet of Jan Koupil, Kovacs, Yannic Alexander Mader and Alessandro Santangelo were All-GLIAC Second Team picks in singles. Additionally, Koupil and Lortie claimed All-GLIAC First Team honors in doubles play.

Voting was conducted by the league's member head coaches and the awards were announced in conjunction with the GLIAC Tournament taking place this weekend at the Midland Tennis Center in Midland, Mich.

The GLIAC Freshman of the Year, Kovacs has had a strong season for the Bulldogs, helping lead FSU to the program's second consecutive league regular-season championship. Kovacs has recorded an 11-2 overall singles mark for the Bulldogs this season and went 5-1 in league action at the number six flight in the FSU lineup. Additionally, he's also posted a 7-3 doubles mark at the third flight and also was 5-1 in doubles play in the GLIAC. Overall, his combined singles and doubles record this year stands at 18-5 overall, which included a 10-2 league record.

The Bulldogs, who have won 10 consecutive matches overall entering the league tournament, went 15-4 overall in regular-season action and are currently the number two team in the Midwest Regional Rankings this year.
This spring, FSU claimed its 22nd all-time league regular-season title and the championship was the program's seventh in the last nine seasons in which the regular-season crown has been awarded. FSU also posted a perfect 10-0 record at home this year inside the FSU Racquet and Fitness Center.

The Bulldogs will open GLIAC Tournament play on Saturday (April 27) in the semifinals in Midland.
