Strong Showing For Bulldog Men's Track Squad At SVSU Doug Hansen Open

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's track and field team took part in the Saginaw Valley State Doug Hansen Open and had another strong showing over the weekend in University Center, Mich.

FSU's Ray Lee won the 60 meters (7.02) and also captured third place in the 200 meters (22.98) with a personal best effort. Meanwhile, Dakota Simpson finished 11th in the 200 meters (23.94).

The Bulldogs' Randall Kuch Wass the runner-up in the 400 meters (51.93) with Andrew Shafley fourth in the 800 meters (2:00.75) and Kevin Wilson 10th (2:03.26) in the race.

FSU had a pair of individuals finish among the top 11 overall in the men's mile run as Donis Harris came in ninth (4:19.42) and Noah Griffith placed 11th (4:24.38). Harris also finished fourth in the 3,000 meters (8:51.39) while Nathan Alford was seventh (9:10.04), Dan Hardesty eighth (9:11.63) and Casey Bouman 10th (9:12.44).

In the field events, FSU's Jake Zammitta was fourth in the shot put (14.14 meters) with Forrest Akers sixth overall (13.54m).

The Bulldogs also won the men's 4x400-meter relay as the tandem of Simpson, Ethan Hamilton, Brendan Deneen and Kuch clocked 3:31.87 overall.

Ferris State will next compete in the Bill Clinger Classic hosted by Grand Valley State in Allendale on Friday, Jan. 28.
