Ferris State Wraps Up Action At One Of Nation's Largest Meets

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University indoor track and field squads took part in one of the nation's biggest meets over the weekend as FSU had student-athletes in action at the Grand Valley State Big Meet, which was held on both Friday and Saturday (Feb. 10-11) in Allendale.

In Friday's women's action, FSU's Emma Stephayn claimed eighth place in the weight throw (51-1.75). Whitney Farrell placed 14th in heat three of the 5,000 meters (17:58.04).

On the men's side, Ferris State's Brandon Wirth placed seventh in heat 10 of the 5,000 meters (15:39.60). FSU's Casey Bouman was 12th (15:47.20) and Ryan Ososki came in 15th (15:55.00).
Meanwhile, Brendan Cairney finished 11th in heat eight of the event (15:31.09) with Donis Harris 21st in heat one (15:31.35).

The Bulldogs had a larger contingent competing on Saturday inside the Laker Turf Building. FSU was led on the women's side by Claudia Wilkinson, who took eighth place in the invite section of the high jump (4-11.50).

Abigail Winkle finished 11th in the 400 meters (58.91). Whitney Farrell was 11th in the 3,000 meters (10:15.88) and Danae Feldpausch finished 12th in the 800 meters (2:21.49).

FSU was also seventh in the women's 4x400-meter relay (4:09.75) with a foursome consisting of Winkle, Daisy Englund, Makayla Roberts and Feldpausch.

For the Bulldog men on Saturday, FSU was led by Donis Harris, who came in third in the 3,000 meters (8:27.71). David Duvall was fifth in the long jump (21-2) and Aaron Pierce finished seventh (20-5.25).

FSU's Kyle Drouillard was fifth in the weight throw (53-10.25) and Bryce George took 15th in the shot put (45-4.25).

Taariik Brett placed 14th in the 60 meters (7.12) and Ralph Donaldson was 16th (7.15) while also placing 17th in the 200 meters (22.80). Andrew Shafley finished 17th in the 800 meters (1:56.97).

The Bulldogs' 4x400-meter relay men's team of Josiah Flora, Tristan Lovett, Tyrese Beedle and Ethan Hamilton placed fifth (3:39.57).

Ferris State will next compete in the Saginaw Valley State Tune-Up Meet on Friday (Feb. 17) in University Center before heading back for the GLIAC Indoor Championships on Feb. 25-26.
