Ferris State Opens Action At 2023 GLIAC Championships

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's and women's outdoor track and field teams wrapped up day one action on Thursday (May 4) at the 2023 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Championships in Caledonia.

The Bulldog men totaled 10 points overall in the team race on Thursday while the women produced six points for FSU. Both squads wrap up the league championships on Friday (May 5) in the event hosted by Davenport University.

The Bulldogs' Brandon Wirth finished fifth overall in the 3,000-meter steeplechase for the men with a time of 9:22.28 overall. Kyle Drouillard took fifth place in the hammer throw (49.74m) and FSU's Aaron Pierce finished seventh in the long jump (6.36m).

FSU's Whitney Farrell placed sixth overall in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 11:09.03 for the Bulldogs. Emma Stephayn placed seventh in the hammer throw (48.24m) while Brianna Copley came in eighth in the javelin (28.81m).

The remaining part of the conference championship schedule starts on Friday beginning at 11 a.m. (ET).
