
Ferris State Track Squads Cap Action At The Bill Clinger Classic In Allendale
Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's and women's track and field squads took part in the Bill Clinger Classic hosted by Grand Valley State on Friday in Allendale.
The competition included a variety of schools from various levels in the region, including in-state schools such as Grand Valley State, Wayne State and Hillsdale among others.
On the women's side, Rebecca Marvin won the weight throw (15.20m) and was ninth in the shot put (10.95m).
Bulldog sophomore Maddy Biller was second in the shot put (11.95m) and senior Daisy Englund took third place in the 800 meters (2:16.25).
Senior Hanna Brock came in seventh in the mile run (5:03.79) and junior Whitney Farrell was eighth in the 3,000 meters (10:09.29).
FSU freshman Allie Delost placed ninth in the 60 meters (8.00) and junior Abigail Winkle came in ninth in the 400 meters (58.78). Biller also placed ninth in the weight throw (13.89m).
Ferris State was also ninth in the 4x400-meter relay on the women's side with the quartet of Winkle, Nyah Tyron, Englund and Oliviah Malloy posting a time of 4:08.80.
On the men's side, sophomore Cooper Sorsen won the men's 3,000 meters (8:17.87).
Freshman Jaylin Townsend was the runner-up in the 60 meters (6.75) with a NCAA D2 provisional qualifying time. Sophomore Taariik Brett came in sixth at 6.96 in the 60 meters.
Sophomore Hunter Richardson took second place in the shot put (14.01m) while freshman Ben Przytula was third (13.22m). Devin Dennison captured third place in the weight throw invite field (18.11m) while Richardson was fourth in the open section of the weight throw (14.24m).
Freshman Hayden Josef was ninth in the high jump (1.89m).
The Bulldogs were also seventh in the men's 4x400-meter relay in a time of 3:25.37.
Ferris State will next take part in the Jet's Pizza Invite hosted by Saginaw Valley State on Friday, Jan. 31, in University Center.
