Ferris State Cross Country Squads Wrap Up Action At One Of Nation's Largest Events

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's and women's cross country squads took part in one of the nation's largest collegiate meets on Saturday (Sept. 30), taking part in the Greater Louisville Classic at E.P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park in Louisville.

The annual event featured some of the nation's top collegiate competition across several divisions.

The Bulldog men were led by Brendan Cairney's 76th-place effort in the "Blue Division" as he clocked 25:56.6 on the 8K course. Caleb Branch finished 87th with a 26:03 mark. FSU's Cooper Sorsen came in 94th (26:08.0) with Noah Griffith 95th (26:08.1) followed by Brandon Wirth in 122nd place (26:18.4) for FSU's top five finishers.

On the women's side, sophomore Whitney Farrell paced FSU in 73rd place (19:14.5) overall. Sophomore Becca Castilo placed 83rd (19:29.9) with Hanna Brock in 86th place (19:22.5) and Melanea Strauss 88th (19:22.6). Finally, Danae Feldpausch took 147th place (19:49.1) in rounding out FSU's top five overall.

The Bulldogs will next compete in the Lewis Conference Crossover on Oct. 7 in Romeoville, Ill.
