Bulldog Cross Country Squads Close Out Fall At NCAA D2 Regional Championships

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's and women's cross country squads wrapped up the fall season at the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional Championships on Saturday (Nov. 9) in Romeoville, Ill.

The Bulldogs came in 12th overall on the women's side with 310 total points. A total of nearly 30 teams had student-athletes competing in the regional competition.

Senior Hanna Brock led the women's squad as she placed 38th overall in a time of 22:25.61 on the 6K course. Junior Whitney Farrell was next in line for FSU as she placed 44th with a clocking of 22:33.12 in the race.

Junior Jessica Durkee took 61st place for FSU (23:05.33) and senior Daisy Englund came in 77th with a showing of 23:17.53. Finally, Melanea Strauss came in as the Bulldogs' fifth finisher with a 23:33.80 race.

On the men's side, Ferris State placed 17th overall with 409 points.

The Bulldog men were led by Cooper Sorsen, who took 25th place in the 8K event with a showing of 31:41.90. Sorsen earned all-region honors and his performance time marked the ninth-best showing in school all-time career history.

Teammate Ben Knuth was 76th (32:41.53) while Noah Griffith came in 101st (33:07.77). Finally, FSU's Gavin Vansolkema wound up 103rd (33:10.47) while Ryan Ososki finished 104th (33:10.80).
