Big Rapids, Mich. - Sophomore designated player Amy Dunleavy (Canton) of the Ferris State University softball team has been honored as a National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Midwest Region Second Team selection for the 2012 campaign.

This year's all-region teams were comprised of 204 student-athletes from 89 institutions spread out over the eight NFCA regions, with a first and second team for each region.

NFCA member coaches in each of the eight regions selected this year's All-Region teams.

Dunleavy batted a team second-best .340 this season and compiled 51 hits with 39 RBI's and 26 runs in 150 at-bats.  She notched nine doubles, five home runs and a triple for the Bulldogs at the plate.  Her 39 RBI's paced the team this season.

Additionally, Dunleavy pitched in 23 games and made nine starts this year.  She finished with an 11-8 overall record in 117 innings pitched.  Dunleavy posted 77 strikeouts with only 25 walks.

Ferris State wrapped up the season with a 31-24 overall mark this campaign under interim head coach Dawn Thompson.  The Bulldogs were the fifth seed heading into Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Tournament, but finished the league event in the championship round despite taking on a higher-seeded opponent in all five games.

FSU closed the 2012 campaign by winning 15 of its last 21 contests, including 10 of its final 13 encounters.
