Ferris State Softball Closes Season In Day Two Action At GLIAC Tournament

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University softball squad had its season come to a close on Friday (May 5) as the Bulldogs suffered a close 6-5 setback to Parkside in day two action at the 2023 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Tournament in Rosemont, Ill.

The Bulldogs held a four-run lead heading into the sixth inning of action, but the Rangers responded by scoring five runs over the final two innings to pull out the win. Both teams finished with 11 hits in the game.

Four different FSU players tallied two hits each, including senior Kaitlyn Orme along with Catherine O'Donohue, Jadyn Joseph and Amara Zukowski. O'Donohue drove in two runs while both Orme and first baseman Evelyn Blood scored twice in the game.

Ferris State compiled four doubles in the game off the sticks of Blood, O'Donohue, Zukowski and second baseman Josie Prince.

In the pitching circle, O'Donohue tossed five innings and allowed only three earned runs on five hits with a strikeout and walk. Aryn Gallacher pitched two innings and gave up three earned runs on six hits in the contest.

The Bulldogs finished the 2023 season with their most wins in seven years while reaching the GLIAC Tournament under first-year head coach Jake Schumann. FSU also finished among the top four teams in the league in conference regular-season action.
