Five Ferris State Softball Standouts Earn All-GLIAC Accolades

Big Rapids, Mich. - Five members of the Ferris State University softball team earned All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) honors for the 2023 season as announced this past week by the league office in conjunction with the conference postseason tournament in Rosemont, Ill.

In voting by the league's member head coaches, FSU freshman outfielder Jadyn Joseph (Holt) was also tabbed as the GLIAC Freshman of the Year Award recipient. Additionally, she was one of three FSU standouts named to the All-GLIAC Second Team. She became only the second-ever Ferris State rookie to claim the GLIAC Freshman of the Year honor, joining 1992 recipient Amy Blumenstein.

Along with Joseph, FSU's second-team honorees also included senior outfielder Kaitlyn Orme (Grandville), who concluded her career as the school's all-time career triples leader, along with junior pitcher Aryn Gallacher (Rochester Hills). She finished the year as the staff ace for FSU with 34 appearances in the circle this past season.

In addition to the three All-GLIAC Second Team choices, the Bulldogs also had a pair of all-conference honorable mention picks in senior first baseman Evelyn Blood (Jenison) and freshman pitcher and designated player Catherine O'Donohue (Pinckney).

Together, the five all-conference standouts helped the Bulldogs win 23 games this past spring, which represented the program's most wins in seven years. The Bulldogs also finished among the top four teams in the GLIAC under first-year head coach Jake Schumann.
